Development of plant protection intelligent systems that harnesses the complementary knowledge of the CGIAR canters and brings it to bear to increase farmers’ capacity to increase productivity and profitability. The CGIAR needs simple but effective tools to disseminate technical information to national agricultural research systems (NARS) and ultimately to the farmers on a global basis. The Utilization of Intelligent Systems in Plant Protection (UISPP) project was initiated by ICARDA in 2003 and the main objective of the project is to strengthen international capacity in plant protection by enhancing the dissemination of the knowledge and research results accumulated in the CGIAR using information and communication – knowledge management (ICT-KM) tools. ICARDA, CLAES, ICRISAT, and IRRI are partners in this project. Outputs 1. Building expert systems for barley, chickpea, and wheat. These systems should be dynamic so they need to be updated frequently. 2. Building plant protection ontology (PPO): 3. Building intelligent search agent depending on the plant protection ontology (PPO). |
